Can We Move the Sound?

Can We Move the Sound? is a composed improvisation premiered by POWERPUFFS (Mara Hebel – alto saxophone and flute, Martina Copello – piano, toy piano and keyboard, Kristýna Švihálková – percussion and drums) in Tallinn in 2025.

The piece explores the movement of sound through space using a text/time score. The musicians are positioned around the audience and, in the first half, follow a compass on video as a cue for transitions between sections of the score. In the second half, the performers themselves become compass needles, moving around the audience while humming and bowing crotales.
