Free Fall

ℎ = 1/2 𝑔𝑡^2 is my master’s degree graduation project. This solo percussion recital incorporates elements of experimental musical theatre and embodies the concept of freedom. What does this fleeting word truly mean? Is it about the state of being, a feeling, or the way we act? Do we need to step out of our comfort zones to discover liberty? Do we always make our decisions in the name of freedom? Do we truly appreciate being free? Can freedom ever be taken away? Where can we find it? The performer seeks answers through music, spoken and written words, space, and movement.

Freedom is one of life’s mysteries that has intrigued me for as long as I can remember. Whenever I reach for the essence of freedom, I can feel the traces of truth on my fingertips, but it always eludes me. However, working on these pieces, both mentally and physically, has brought me a little closer to that truth, even if only for a brief moment.
